Cozy Coupe to VW Dupe

This project was harder than I expected, but a thrill to complete! Below, I've listed out the materials I used and their corresponding links:

Used Cozy Coupe - Facebook Marketplace
Roof & Trim: Shell white
Car body: Peaceful blue
All over finish: Clear
VW emblem: Ebay (but you can find this on Amazon too!)
VW caps: Amazon
Chrome trim: Amazon
Headlight stickers: WrenGifts
Foot rest: 3dTacticalPrinting
License plate: MickeysTech
Flower cushion: Shein

I also used a lot of blue painter's tape to do the trim, the steering wheel, and protect the majority of the headlights and taillights. I slipped plastic bags over the wheels while painting the body of the car so I wouldn't accidentally spray those too!

I did have to pull out the pins that hold the back of the roof in place - they were very difficult to get out and to push back in, but you can do it!

Have fun and good luck!

Painting Pottery

I have a new favorite thing! Painting pottery! My aunt and cousin took me to Color Me Mine in Florida and it was just about the most fun time ever! I honestly expected it to be totally lame, but I ended up loving it so much. And I recently learned that my grandparents used to own their own painting pottery studio! So that makes me feel close to them now that it's the new fad and I want to do it all the time!

I've only been three times, but I positively LOVE it! The first time I went I painted a mug for myself and my GENIUS little cousin suggested I make my very own "Chip" cup! So I did!!

The second time I went was for Mother's Day, and I actually don't have a picture of what I made for my wonderful mother but it was a piece of tile that I painted with a sun and wrote, "You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine." Because she used to sing that to my brother and me and her mother to her.

The last time I went was after I moved to Houston (a couple of weeks ago), I found a location here in Cypress and made a mug for my dad for Father's Day because the design on the one I got him a few years ago is wearing off.

I'm really proud of both of the mugs I have made!! I want to make a plate or something else now! I cannot wait to go with my cousins and make tons of wonderful unique items!

Congratulations to the happy couple!

My friends, Brannon and Stephanie got engaged over the summer. So when they came into town, Christina wanted to make them a special engagement gift. She asked each of them to describe in one word what they love about the other (and not to tell the other that she asked). Then, she found adorable mugs at Target, used an acrylic paint pen, wrote on the mugs and baked them!
They turned out too cute! Take a look:

This is the photo Stephanie posted of it on her Instagram. :)

Here, you can see a little bit of the gray bird that's on the side of the mug. This photo was taken of the mugs in the oven.

This is the pen Christina used. It was purchased from Michael's craft store.

THIS IS HALLOWEEN

Happy Halloween!!

Today is Halloween, but we celebrated our spooky night on Saturday here at Fowlkes Point! We had a little Halloween party with just a few decorations, but A LOT of fun! Take a look!

Some of our decor:
We made punch using pineapple juice, ginger ale, vodka and triple sec. Then we added pureed strawberries to the top for a creepier look!

We bought the adorable ghost piñata was purchased from Walmart so we could play "dizzy piñata." How to play: you must have a wiffle bat with the top cut out and a hole punched in the bottom. Fill the bat with beer, while plugging the hole with your finger, and then chug the wiffle bat beer. Once you're finished, place the bat on the ground and your forehead to the top of it and spin around 10 times, then attempt to hit the piñata. You will most likely fall and it is hilarious. But drink responsibly!

Also, on our bar area table are the Harry Potter potion bottles Christina and I made. We took one dollar bottles from Michael's, modge podge from Walmart and used printables you can find here and make your own! They are too cute! We just filled ours with water and food coloring, but I suppose you could use them in your drink station with mixers and such!

Next the costumes:

Honey Boo Boo, Mary Poppins, and Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy and the mime

Honey Boo Boo and the Situation
BatGirl and Poison Ivy!!

An airplane (she came with a pilot as well,
I just don't have a picture of them) and Poison Ivy

If you cannot already tell, I was Poison Ivy! And I made my costume out of an extra large t-shirt and ivy leaves from Michael's. I followed this tutorial.

Too much fun! I just LOVE Halloween!

Preparing for All Hallow's Eve

We're having a Halloween party this year, and I cannot wait! I've been working all weekend on my costume (but am not ready to reveal). Christina and I have begun to look for decorations and create some of our own! I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a go! Hope you like it!

I took the candles we had laying around that Christina didn't care about and gave them a new creepy look! I purchased red and black stick candles to drip along the edges. And I think they turned out pretty good!

The blue one is the only one that I think turned out a little weird, but I couldn't decide a color for it.

Letting my TOMS SHINE!

TOMS shoes are awesome. But they get holes. So instead of throwing them out, I decided to add a bit of flare to my old pair to make them look like new!
Here is the finished product:

And this is how I did it:
First I gathered all the essentials: Fray Block, Liquid Stitch (can be purchased at WalMart), scissors, and fabric that is already hemmed (I used a bandana purchased from WalMart) and of course, your TOMS!

First, you want to put the fray block on the part of your shoes that has the holes. So I put it all on the back of my shoes.

Then cut your fabric for the front and back of your shoes, but make sure to cut pieces larger than needed, you'll go back and cut after gluing.

Use the Liquid Stitch to glue the fabric to your TOMS. Put glue all over the section and place the fabric so that the hemmed section is at the top where there is a hem on your shoes.

When doing the top half, place the fabric on and flatten it over the tip and fold the sides in, and hold it so the glue will take hold. I also added glue under the fold so it would stay.

After the glue has dried, take the scissors and cut along the base of the fabric, tuck it into the crease of the shoe and add glue as needed.

The final step is to add Fray Block to the edges of all the fabric that does not have a built-in hem (the bottom and the sides of the back). And then you're done!! Beautiful like new TOMS!
